ignition wires
Hey , can anyone tell me which wires are for what that come down the steering column from my ignition ? Have a 1982 F- 150 inlin six . 4 speed manual , 4 wheel drive . The colors are : yellow , dark blue , light blue , white , green / red stripe , light green , another light green , orange with blue stripe and white with blue stripe . That is , starting at the top and going down on the left side of the column . The truck was made in Canada , according to the driver's door sticker , don't know if that makes a difference or not . Also wondering how to tell which type of carb setup I have . ie: feedback , EEC , etc . Thank you , Chris .

If you have any type of computer control, your distributor will not have a vacuum line going to it. That is, if it's all original. A computer controlled carb will also have lots of wires and wiring plugs on it.
I know yellow is from the battery feeding the switch.
I think you are missing some of the colors. You should have a red/lightblue leaving the switch to the start circuit.

It doesn't sound like you have computer control. Check your wires very carefully, twist them slowly. That red should have a faint blue strip on it. These wires are all faded by now and hard to make out I know. I think one on the other major key-on power wires that feed the fuse box from the ignition switch is a black/lightgreen.
