So, I am not sure if there is or has been a gun thread on here, but I figured I would start one...
But first a few rules, or suggestions. Please do not post photos showing your gun(s) serial numbers. Just like your truck plates, these can be recorded and tracked, and I don't know any gun owners who would want that.
Second, lets keep this clean and fun. Lets talk about experiences, plusses and minuses we have encountered. Just like with our trucks, lets be helpful and informative.
Our second amendment can be a fun, yet sometimes contentious topic, so lets keep it enjoyable for all. This is not about if it should be a right or not to own firearms, or what types those should be, but this should be about enjoying what is legal and answering questions for all. We have had this topic float around from thread to thread, so now, maybe we have a home for it.
Thanks!
...and now for why I really want this post. I am an avid 44mag fan. I fell in love with the round after buying a "bear" gun in Alaska. I have always wanted a 44mag revolver rifle. Not a crappy Rossi, but something that can take abuse, and I think I have finally found a smith who can help me make it happen. Here are two photoshop ideas of how it could look, I am just hoping that I can actually make this happen.
David, this is a great topic for the GNAC (General Non-Automotive Conversation) forum, but unfortunately not here in the Excursion tech forum.
Would you like me to move it there, or do you want to start a new thread there and I can remove this one?
Stewart
Stewart, I was afraid of that, I understand that location, I just wanted something here that my fellow Ex friends might actually find and comment on. But please feel free to more it as needed.
...so...is that just a rifle "upper" set up to receive a revolver loading system? I can't imagine you'd have the revolver barrel, a break, then a rifle barrel...would you?

The idea is to take Ruger's Super Redhawk (comes with a 2.5, 7.5 or 9.5 inch barrel), and replace its barrel with a rifle one (20+ inches) and then add appropriate stocks.
The reason to take this approach is that the Ruger revolver is made to take the punishment of multiple "hot" loads (300+ grain rounds). You can not really do this with a lever action style rifle chambered in 44mag, and all of the bolt action ones that I have found are single shot. Since I carry 44mag as my sidearm, I am interested in having the same round in my long gun. Yes it is not a long range hitter, but it would be able to take down anything in North America within its range.
Plus it would be unique and that is a plus in my book.
I carry (w/ccw permit) a m&p40 shield, it fits nicely in my pocket and love it.
We have a ruger lc9 w/laser sight, we won at a friends of the NRA dinner. I prefer the slightly large handle of my 40, but the wife prefers the lower kick of the 9.
We have a keltec ksg shotgun which we love, and the staff at our range likes to "test fire".
We buy a few boxes of ammo each month, sort of like our 401k, since prices vary like stock.

Not to discount your idea which is cool, but Ruger makes the 77/44 with the 4 shot rotary magazine.
Yours is a cool concept, but I think that it would loose too much pressure out the air gap to be very effective as a rifle.
The .44 mag is very well adapted round to a lever gun, seems like somebody would make one that could handle the pressure of hot loads.
Finally! SBR in Sacramento makes you wait 11 days instead of 10, so I finally took possession yesterday - Daniel Defense DDM4 V5:
Magpul BUIS, Aimpoint reticle, single/dual point qd sling (not in the photo). I'm damn busy the next two weeks so I have to bide my time till I get a good Saturday off to go zero it.
Anyone get into air rifles? They are fun, but just as deadly.
Some powder burners turn their nose up at them some don't.
That is until they shoot them
I have a .22 now but looking to get a .32 or .45 down the road.
Most of the big bores are made in small shops, not too many large corporations making them yet.
Crosman had a semi-auto 9mm rifle but I think they stopped making it already.
Some states don't allow hunting with them and some only allow .45 or bigger.

Why not? I'm by far no lever gun expert but that strikes me as a much more common, cheaper, and practical way to have a 44mag rifle?
