OK! We towed our fifth wheel today...Awesome torque! Especially noticeable when entering a highway get's this trailer to 65 right now...Fuel mileage as not as good as my tuned 350 on same trip 10 mpg on 350 vs 9.2 on 450...The 450 was even smoother while towing, and a lot more stable...No sag at all...Also like the fact that the bed sits lower naturally than the 350, less angle on the trailer.
Over all very, very pleased...Real nice vehicle.
How much does the your F450 squat with your trailer weight? I know you said no sag at all, but how big is your 5th wheel? I know most people had to add airbags to their F350 drw and pre 2015 F450's to compensate for the rear squat with a load. I'm considering upgrading to a dually and curious if the new F450's are beefed up enough over last year that they don't squat much under a significant payload.
In the market and heavily considering a '15 F450. I tow a 40ft 5th wheel that weighs 20K lbs. fully loaded. I do a lot of mountain driving with steep grades. My biggest concern with the Ford design is the exhaust brake. From what I understand, it's not actually an exhaust brake, and it doesn't perform like a real exhaust brake. I am looking to upgrade my truck merely for the increased safety when descending long steep grades when I have my entire family on board. Can some who has this newest design power plant, that actually tows 18K plus, comment on the engine brake performance while towing and descending long steep grades? Rocky Mountains or Sierra Nevada mountains.
My next Rig is def. going to be the New F-450 so I can "easily" put my Huge Lance slide in camper back there and enjoy camping off the beaten path. BTW, I have a Can Am sxs which I tow behind the truck camper. Can't wait to Purchase!
RoadKing, very nice ride!!!! I recently upgraded myself to the 2015 F350 King Ranch. Amazing how much more refined the 2015 is over my 2012 I traded. I'm down on Little Torch. Hope to give a wave while headed north or south

Hello, Stony. I have a '15 F350 DRW and am pulling a 40' toy hauler mostly in the mountain west. The ebrake on this does great. I can't remember just which hill I was coming down, but was definately one of the bigger ones north of Cedar City UT on I-15 and was actually decillerating without using the service brakes at all. Was in tow-haul mode ans tranny down shifted to 4-th at around 70 mph and the vehicle started slowing before I was at the bottom of the hill. Also on I-15 coming down into St George, I only used the service brakes twice very lightly all the way down! Hope this helps you decide! Best of luck to you and yours.
iSO been a while I haven't been on much recently, but, I'm back... That is one nice truck you got there... Really like that color combination.
You are right, Ford has really refined these vehicles...
If you plan on being up this way shoot me a pm so you can stop in for a drink.
No Gus Machado for me unless a recall or update... I've been doing my own PM.
Take care
Lol, wish I could do my own PM's. Last time I tried to do a driveway oil change on the 2012, it wound up being a disaster...I went underneath all white and clean, then re-emerged black as the oil, plus I now know what diesel oil tastes like, Lol
Would love to swing by, just no time with the job. I work on the Naval Air Station down here and our Optempo is through the roof....Job security though Take Care & again, Very Nice Setup you have.....Congrats to ya and Thank You for the compliment on mine
