Alignments, 2 wheel, 4 wheel.

Alignments, 2 wheel, 4 wheel.
These 4 wheel alignments they try to sell people make no sense on a rear wheel drive like the Explorer, ( '96, Eddie Bauer) I mean it's an axle for heavens sake. When I complain, they try to sell me a thrust angle alignment which they say references the rear wheels. Well what the hell are they referencing on a standard 2 wheel alignment? The air? Of course they're gonna reference the rear wheels on the two wheel alignment. Thrust angle my ***!!!

Agreed that on a 2001 or older Explorer they cannot do a 4 wheel alignment. But a thrust angle alignment is appropriate versus a 2 wheel alignment. When you see trucks running down the road that are dog tracking, that's possibly because they only paid for a 2 wheel alignment. A thrust angle takes in to account how the rear wheels track the front. For the rather little cost difference between a 2 wheel and a TA alignment, the TA is generally worth it in tire wear savings and handling.
