hello everyone, id first like to say this is an awesome site and that most of my information has came from here. I have a 97 7.3 psd with a E4OD which went out and i want to swap it with a zf5, i have a 94 7.3 factory turbo-ed idi on hand for a parts truck, i have read many forums going over this topic and i do know that i will for sure need a new clutch and flywheel and to shorten/lengthen my drive shafts. basically what i want to know is what can i and cant i use from my parts truck, like the clutch peddle assem and etc. Thank you for the info in advance and not many 17 year olds are doing manual swaps in their trucks
Pedal assembly is different between the PSD and IDI. Edit: Before 91.
There's a crank spacer in front of the flexplate that needs to be removed to install the flywheel.
I think almost everything else should be swappable. Find Rebilld's thread about the first zf5 swap he did. A lot of good information there. He goes into the wiring changes necessary to make the cruise work.
Buckhammer also has a pretty good write up. Those are the two threads I got most of my information from.
Pedal assembly is the same from an IDI as long as it is a '92 and up. The only pedal assemblies that won't work are the '91 and back. Everything from the '94 parts truck will work accept for the flywheel and drive shafts.
