Well...........I finally made it!!

I had committed to participating in a cruise in before this year ended. Saturday for the first time, I pulled out on the street and headed for a local Sonic that was putting on a show. Had to stop for gas and I didn't think I would ever get out of there for answering questions about the truck. I made it to the show without incident and had lots of interest, made some new friends and had a good time. Even though my truck is far from what I envision, it sure felt great to drive it. It's loud, different shades of primer all over it and a little ugly, but it drew lots of attention on the road.

Also got a chance to take note of some issues that I thought would need adjustments. Little surprised that it drove so straight and the steering wheel was positioned correctly even though I haven't had it aligned yet.

Congratulations!!!

Those memories will sure help out the next time you get in a rut with the truck. I'm glad you had fun

Good for you getting it on the road! I just got mine going on the road a little bit yesterday and found a couple major problems as well. There's always room for unfinished projects at car shows, they're honestly way more interesting than the dolled up, finished ones. They leave more room to the imagination, but maybe it's just because I love dreaming.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys that likes to look at the project vehicles that show up. I had lots of questions about pieces on my truck that are one off and sometimes a little unconventional.

And I found a few things that need some immediate attention before it goes back out again, but I wasn't at all surprised.

Any outing that doesn't involve a tow truck is a WIN! Congrats!

Congrats on the outing. There's always something more to do, glad that 'enjoy the ride' got checked at least once.

congrats on the outing. It's exciting to get behind the wheel and move around. You are a lot further along than I am. Every time I take it out for a little jaunt, I constantly fret on how everything is running. I keep looking around to make sure nothing is about to fall off. But it sure is a thrill getting behind the wheel.

Great news Drew, I was a bit nervous on my first couple drives but feeling a lot more comfortable as the miles add up. I still have a few things that need attending to also but can wait until the winter months. Sure glad you had a good time with lots of interested questions as it is a truck to dream about, looks really good my friend, enjoy!

A BIG Thanks to all for the positive comments!! It only took me 27 years to take that little drive, but it sure seem to be worth it running down the highway Saturday night. I couldn't believe the reactions that I got from other drivers especially the truck drivers. Lots of thumbs up. You'll never know how many times I've sat on a milk crate in that truck thinking about the day I might get to drive it.

Now....back to the garage to fix a few things that reared their head on this outing and then back to the details to refine what I been working on for so long. It's gonna be a looooong winter.
