This is crazy

Hey everyone. On my 83 f150 5.8l 4x4 I'm having a time getting the truck to crank. It will turn over, but not start. I've replaced the starter, starter solenoid, ignition module, fuel filter, coil, and cleaned the carb. My fuel pump is mechanical and two years old. I've taken the battery to our local parts retailer and they've determined it's good. It's 3 years old. Does anyone have any ideas.

Fuel, spark and compression.
Which one are you missing?

One question, does the manual fuel pump have to be primed in some way? I replaced the fuel filter today without doing anything beyond that.

I believe I'm missing fuel. It seems like I'm not getting fuel despite adding gas to the carb. Not in the carb directly, but by moving the lever/cable that's connected to the gas pedal.

You sure your fuel valve on your float bowl(s) are working? Do you have a way to drain the bowl to see if you get fuel out?

Stick a paper towel into the intake side of the carb and pull your throttle a couple of times.. don't start the truck.. just pull the throttle. Is the paper towel wet with gas?

if I let my truck sit for 8 to 10 hours, I have to pump the heck out of it to get it to start. fuel pump was replaced in May of this year.

1983 F350 351m 2 barrel. would like to go to 4.

So, your accelerator pump is not working?
Is the check ball in place?
Is the arm adjusted to the proper gap?

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding.
What do you mean "I've cleaned the carb"?
The float bowl is full?
Did you fill the bowl through the vent standpipe?

Mechanical pumps can take a long time to prime.
