2000 f350 a/c

Hi guys i have a question about my a/c. When i got the truck i replaced the resistor because it only worked on high. The a/c blows ice cold but just doesn't blow hard even at the highest speed. Any idea what it can be? Thanks

It could be a restriction across the evaporator coil. Pet hair, plastic bag, etc. Does the blower sound like it runs faster with each click you turn it to a higher setting?

Yes with each setting it runs faster just doesnt push out very much air. And if my problem is at the evaporator coil what do i need to do?

I think you would have to pull the heater core out from under the dash then clean it out. From what I've read, it sounds harder then it is. Please report back on your fix.

Look up heater core replacement, it's in there and then you can clear it out.

Does the airflow increase when on Normal A/C and decrease when using Max?

If so check up under the dash below the glove box for a blockage...Usually a plastic sack or something is blocking the intake.

No it gets stronger when switching from a/c to max not by much though.

So the evaporator is behind the heater core?

Pretty much. It has to come out to really clean it right.

The evap coil is installed and removed through the engine compartment. I've never tried to remove one with the lines still attached, and I don't think it's possible. The easiest way to get a look at it is probably through the hole where the resistor is installed; in the engine compartment, between the blower motor and accumulator. If you remove the resistor, you should be able to see in there with a flashlight, and maybe an inspection mirror. If the evap coil is plugged with debris, how plugged the heater core is will probably depend on how much you actually use the heat.

Well i took out the blower motor and on the right side of it there is a hole that goes to the evaporator coil you can reach in there if your hand fits and feel a radiator type material. As i put my hand in there i could not see anything but felt all the nasty grime and dirt and hair. I got a flathead screw driver and scraped in there and got about 3 handfuls of stuff out. I used a shop vac and stuffed it in there and cleaned everything up and for not having to take the evaporator out completely to clean it made a pretty noticable difference in the air flow. It can probably be cleaned even more if removed but at least now i can feel air in my backseat and boy you better bring a jacket if i put it on max and highest power. Thanks for the tips!
