Foxbody mustang rear end?

Any issues with running a 8.8 from 90gt. Measures 59.5" and is centered with equal lengh axles. Obvious i would cut off brackets and weld on new perches

Sounds about like an explorer width. You will probably need to use spacers as stock was around 61.5" I believe.

Fox bodied Mustangs (and Capri's) were introduced in 1979. Make sure it's an 8.8 because many of these cars came a 7.5.

I have a 56 with an 8.8 explorer rear with 235 75 15 and stock ford car wheels, the tires rub the inside of the box.

Thanks for the info. I am doing some research and see that the explorer axles are offset. Being a truck i am sure i doesnt effect anything since there is no tranny hump like a car. Did anyone have issues with this?

We were just discussing this in another thread. The offset pinion is not an issue. I'm running spacers on my F1, no problems.

You do know a 1990 foxbody Stang would have 4 lug axles right?

You are still better off with the Explorer rear. It's much stronger then the Stang diff.

I agree. They are 31 spline axles. Thank you for the help. I have plans to sell this one and then buy a explorer rear for cheaper.
