Like Ted said, radial play (round and round or twist) is ok to a stated tolerance. Sorry I do not know myself or I would tell ya.
Axial play (up, down, left and right) directional play is not good. Could be a bad pinion bearing or loose pinion nut?
While you are under there insp your U-joints and lube them.

ok i think is good ... and i drop the oil so without oil , the sound was just more scary... because i was doing a refresh and change kinpin ... so
