Vacuum Reservior for 59 Ford F-100

In an attempt to keep my windshield wipers moving when going above 40 mph I installed a 1 quart can vacuum reservoir on the wheel wheel however when driving today the wipers still stop or go very slow. Do I need a non return or check valve on the input (off the fuel pump) hose to the can?? thanks in advance

When the bushings wear enough, the armature will rub on the field coils when under load. That would explain why it spins OK with no load, but won't start the engine. BTW when you hooked it up out of the truck, it should have just about jumped across the room, if all was well!

Does your fuel pump have a vacuum pump on it? Those are pretty rare, but were common back then. Yes, you want a check valve in the hoses from the pump and manifold (if it exists) to the vac can.

The fuel pump has a vacuum on the top of it which ran directly to the wiper assembly on the firewall. I didn't look at the manifold for a vacuum line but will. I will also look for a check valve to add to the line into the reservoir. Thank you
