Well all I can say is if you don't want to believe then you can jump your but in whatever you drive and haul it down to White Plains Ga Oct 25th or Nov 8th. I won't try to make the doubters believe anymore than this post, it ain't worth my time.
The Nov 8th is a special event, each year about the first weekend in Nov they have an event called Diesels in Dark Corners. It's the year end event and they have a company bring their chassis dyno. Go to my you tube channel "FORDTUF1" and you can see for yourself. It also has a couple of my pulls, listen carefully and you'll hear me feather it at least 100' down the track. There is one pull on there called Work Truck class, which allows mods to stock type trucks, that pull was above my truck for sure but it is one pull where I didn't slip. The other 4-5 times pulling at that track I had to feather it because of a "more loose" track.
The only people I've ever known that pull in 4 HI are guys that don't know what they're doing. Sorry if that offends but that's just the way it is. Also, I don't leave it in any gear, I use manual mode and shift it out, never going above 4th and usually never make it out of 3rd.
I do have an air intake change but don't list it because it's really not a huge change vs. deleting, bypassing, 5" pipe and the tuner. The wife of Leadfoot Diesel Perfomance took a series of HD pics last month and it confirms what I know already, shows dirt flying up from fronts and rears.
Would I benefit from duals, absolutely. Will it make me pull 20 feet farther, I'd bet my truck there's no way. I'm looking for a few feet and if I'm lucky maybe 5-6 more feet. Given the steps to take it looks like it's not cost effective versus getting some tires that are 3-4 inches wider, plus I can get 2 now and put them on the front where it should make the most difference.
Either way if I get them to stop spinning or not, I'm already planning a turbo swap. My goal is to have the 61 mm turbo from the 2015 installed by first pull next year, then I'll have to get the new stroked CP4 fuel pump to see all of the power increase. Can I go to bigger Garrett, yes, but then it's not stock rules eligible.
How about some custom wheels and some of those fat high flotation tractor tires? Isn't that what truck pullers used to do?
Some truck classes still do but I pull in street legal classes, plus money is always an issue. Now I'm trying to find the cheapest steel rims that are capable of holding a13-14" wide tire.
I guess I'l see you Nov 8th then. You know exactly what dyno mine's been on if you were there last year.
Have you ran yours over the rollers? You should plan to hook too.
Yes. Dyno'd 480/1010. Different dyno though. This truck was bought to squash the desire to sled pull/drag race. The 6.4 was too tempting to spend lots of money and break stuff.
