Edge EVO HT

Edge EVO HT
Decided to try one, found one that was the earlier version that was cheaper than the current one by about $60. Ended up getting the current one for the same price as they had sold out of the earlier one.
Somewhat disappointed after the first trip after tuning.
Tried the economy tune on the way up to Indiana bobtailing and couldn't see much improvement.
I was able to correct the odometer error that I have had since installing the bigger tires, so that was a plus.
They recommend not towing more than 6K with the economy tune so when I picked up the grand design 5th wheel trailer that weighed 13.5K(16K GVWR) I swapped over to the towing tune.
Each time you change the tune the trans has to relearn it seems and there was a big rpm flair on the 2-3 shift but it goes away pretty quickly.
Took a little getting used to the new trans shifting/converter lockup algorithms of the shift program.
The towing tune did seem to improve the fuel economy on the trip back, had some pretty big mileage killing winds but still managed a shade over 12 mpg where before I would have been doing good to make 10.5 under the same conditions. And I was very careful to not change my driving style so as not to skew the numbers. Couldn't really tell any HP/TQ improvement, but I never use all the power my truck makes anyway.
So, I like that I don't have to fool with having to figure my miles any more now that the odometer is correct again, and if the towing mileage keeps showing improvement then I guess I'll keep it tuned. I am going to leave the towing tune on for the next trip and see how the mileage comes out with it that way while bobtailing.
Of course, at the cost of $299 and maybe 1.5 mpg better towing, it'll take quite a while for it to pay for itself...
By the way, truck is now at 183K, was afraid for a while it'd never get that far! Radiator still leaks though...
Oh yeah, one strange deal, apparently, Edge's tuning has the 1-6 gear indicator set to "off" by default, have to keep switching it back on every time I start the truck with the tune loaded!

None, I was always able to figure the mileage before, the odometer was off by 4.9%, so easy to correct for fuel economy figuring.
The hard part to account for is the wind, the rest is just numbers.
