Anyone using a Barder Billet compressor
The Pork Chop Express is back!
Still smokin' a little, but not bad.
As for the new Compressor Wheel, it is from Riffraff and Barder Turbo Service says so right on the back. Mine is #38.

I like it. Here's why.
It's quieter than the stock "Wicked Wheel" design of 6+6 blades.
It's quicker to spool than stock Compressor.
It has a different pitch to the whine. A touch higher I think.
The whine comes on about 800 rpm and is gone by 2,000. Keep in mind this is a noisy 7.3. And I've not yet gone past 2,000 rpm.
I have not "got on it" because it's still breaking in. So I cannot speak about how fast it spools above 8lbs boost.
I do not have a "tune" in it yet. Same reason as above.
I'll add to this thread after ~100 easy miles.

I've got an E99 but would appreciate anyone with one of the Barder wheels.
They seem to be a different design than RR's billet or the WW2.
Any info would be appreciated. Opinions welcome

I've now got +151,000 on my truck with ~20,000 on the newly rebuilt turbo.
I bought the complete kit, I would advise anyone else rebuilding theirs to do the same. It was uncomfortable as Hell to work on it and laying across the block wasn't any fun, but it was worth it!
It has performed flawlessly since it was installed. I must have put it back together correctly.
The boost does come on much quicker (lower RPM), it develops more boost overall (I've got a monitor set) and sounds different than the stock Whistle sound.
Sound wise it's more like a wine glass when you run your finger around the edge and it "rings". Very cool sound. Not as loud as the WW whistle.
I have pulled a 27' Travel Trailer and a very heavy aluminum river jet boat up some steep inclines with the truck and if you watch the temps and keep the RPMs up there is no problem. I have a 4 stage tune kit and keep it at +80hp boost. I have run the turbo all the way up to 23 boost and have not had a lick of problems.
I wanted to wait until I had some miles on the new turbo before reviewing the unit, I forgot to update with the results. I'm sorry.
Remember this wheel is lighter so it spins up faster and slows down quicker too. (less mass)
Very happy customer.
