Maybe someone can help me out here. My 2wd truck sits about 2 inches lower in the front then the rear. Does anyone know any way to raise the front end without too much pain/money? Would simply getting different shocks help me out, or do I need new springs or spacers? Any ideas would be appreciated!!!
I had the same problem - I was unable to get it aligned correctly due to the sagging so put on the new springs and shocks. Be sure to look around for the best deal. I had prices from 200-300 from the local repair shops (F350 1 Ton) but found them from Moog Automotive for just over $100.00.
Good luck - made a huge difference in the feel of the truck.
Shock absorbers alone would not lift the vehicle, although lifting it by other means may necessitate new ones with more travel. I've been told longer shocks are not needed by people who leveled the front by an inch or two. Would never hurt to take measurements, though. Also possible is the need for new "axle pivot bushings," which set the wheel camber. I think a lift of >=1.5" makes new bushings with a wider span of adjustment necessary. These should be around $30 per pair. Couldn't honestly tell you the install time/difficulty for them, though.
Remember though that the front ends of full-size trucks are lowered with towing and hauling in mind. You load up the hitch or bed, the weight bias changes, and suddenly there is less weight holding that front steering axle on the ashpalt. Just something you may want to ponder, although I personally doubt such a minor cosmetic lift would even affect steering under load.
