just headers hurt engine?

i am going to put a set of headers on when i get my engine rebuilt, i was wondering if the 20 mile drive from my house to the exhust shop just running headers with no other exhust will hurt my new engine? i have heard that not enough back pressure will burn exhust valves. is this true?

I've also heard that. I don't know.

Maybe you could bolt on a set of header mufflers. They're short, loud and bolt up to the collector flange. They will get you there and not be as loud. May even keep the cops from following you.

You might as well ride first while you are doing it too. hehe, I believe the cops will just give you a warning.

running with no exhaust manifolds or headers will hurt the valves. that is, if you run bare heads, it will hurt.
