radiator swap?

I'm doing a radiator swap this weekend. Is there any special tips or tools I need to know or have? Should I replace my t-stat when I do it?

The question becomes, are you flushing the system?

That should give you a complete understanding.

You want to end up with a 50/50 mix for most locations including Texas. If you see very low temps in winter (artic) you may want to go a bit stronger. Most bottles have a chart or other general recommendations for a proper mix.

Total cooling system capacity including the degas bottle is 27.5 qts. If you drain the radiator by the lower hose or the draincock you'll remove 1/2 the system capacity--about 14 qts. Therefore it takes 14 qts of 100% coolant added back to the system to get a 50/50 mix if you do a complete flush and fill because your starting with water in the system you'll need the concentrate to end up with a proper mix.

If you drain and refill with no flushing, what's left in the engine is 50/50 so you have to account for that.
