ok guys i need to know whats is better to put on my truck for performance dont really care about how it sounds. should i go with a turbo muffler or a glass pack cherrybomb? i will be goin 2.5 inch out of the cat muffler fell of this weekend not really even that loud coming out of the cat . also how can i tell if the cat is plugged ? 93 efi 4.9 4x4 3.08

You just said it. It's not really that loud. You can bash out the rear cat with a bar, but you have to cut the front one open and then weld it shut again. Glass pack for performance, but without any baffle in the cats, it gets noisy. I have a turbo on mine, with 2.5" all the way after the muffler. Not a bad sound. Little better performance than stock muffler.

looked into the cat with a flashlight all i could see was a metal screen. how do u get that out? then what bash out the rest of the cat how do you get all the pieces out . also how much louder will it make it?

ok... im pretty professional at this hollowing out the cats kinda deal... take out your factory jack thats in your truck and theres some sort of breaker bar... just take that bar and start smashin.... and keep breaking it up... and occasionally start up the truck and watch all the crap come flyin out... repeat all steps until it is hallow

Oh yeah.... thats not gonna be a problem... see them 4.9's AKA 300 I 6 has alotta back compression... it'll blow it out.. lol..
I wound up having to re-do my exhaust.. used a 2.5" pip out of the manifold and bought a cat for a tractor at my local feed store.. hooked into my pip right smart.. then finished it out the rest of the way..
Sounds great lol.... down side is I gotta tight up my manifolds every 6,000 or 7.000 miles lol..

it would blow out no problem... the last car i did this on is a 94 saturn.... lol if that engine can do it..(1.9 dohc) then i think the 300 would be a sneeze compared to the saturns exhale lol

keep in mind, when ordering a new cat, they come in packages that say "radioactive" ... or at least they used to 
please dont be anywhere near that exhaust when its blowing the cat material out. that stuff can't be anywhere close to good in your lungs.

i did it!! waht a differnce!! truck really goes now if it wasnt so loud i would leave it. i hope the truck still performs the same way when i put the glass pack and 2.5 inch pipe on it this weekend. oh buy the way it had no problem blowing it out took it for a spin down the highway when i got back home it was all gone

haha, i'm sure the squirrels along the way are in for a nasty suprise!
A glasspack shouldn't really restrict flow too much, so i wouldn't worry about it making a huge dip in performance. It will be a lot quieter, but don't be confused.
The exhaust on these trucks is pretty bad... two cats and a slow muffler with 3in reduced to 2.25in. eek!

like rhetor said about the junk getting into your lungs... deffinatly not good... the crap is some sort of ceramiac garbage and it makes a real fine dust.... when i did my buddys saturn i told him to start it but wait until i get out from under the car... but he musta not heard me cuz i got a mouth full of it... threw up and had a half hour coughing spell....

I think its cuz i have no tailpipes, the 3" end of the muffler is all thats there. i gotta pickup a 3 foot run of 3in and a turndown. hopefully it wont be so annoying.
