I remember seeing a step by step instructional write up someone did on how to remove and install front wheel bearings on a first generation Ford Escape but now after hours of searching, I can't find the page. There was even multiple videos posted along with photos on how to do this job but a YT search brings up nothing useful.
I've done unitized wheel bearings before but never the press in kind. I have a slide hammer with hub bearing puller. What other specialty tools, if any, do I need beside the slide hammer and a wheel bearing replacement kit? I have a shop press but shouldn't the bearing replacement kit do away with the need for a shop press for this application?
FYI, my Escape is an '05 AWD with 4-wheel disc brakes. I can do the job without the step by step write up but I'm quite curious if anyone else has seen it and where it can been found.
On mine, I took the hub out and removed teh clip on it, pressed the bearing out, cleaned it spotless, and then pressed the new bearing in. PRoblem was getting hub bolts out as they were seized needed some heat to loosen them up
