ABS Light

ABS Light
ABS light came on. Checked to find that the dog had chewed through the wiring from the rear wheel sensor in the Differential..(don't ask its a dog truck and when the dogs have finished working they get tied out in the shade under the truck to cool off and this one was obviously bored and looking for mischief)
I have re-spliced the wiring with bullet connectors. Light has stayed on but I have not driven vehicle.
Question
1. Will the Light go out (if problem solved) when the vehicle moves and the ABS can do a self diagnostic.
2. Do I need to manually reset to the code.
From a search of the forum there seems to be some contrary opinions as to 1 or 2 above.
As always any input greatly appreciated.
