My 99 F250 has just recently started making a "rattling" noise. The noise sounds like its coming from the front left wheel area. The noise is constant while driving down the road, its NOT created by bumps or anything, its a constant noise while moving, any ideas that could help?
Does it change pitch when you bank her hard left or right?, Is it 4X4, something in the hub, its the hub locked and the u-joint in the axle falling apart? check the hub cap if it has one.
I know your a new user and welcome to FTE, this is the place to be for any kind of help or just to BS with the guy's. Always try to include as much info about the truck and problem as possible as we are probably 1,000 miles apart it's hard to diagnose a problem without that info, I can just give you the basic's that I have seen over the past 25 or so years that I have been in the buisness.
Welcome again and poke around some of the sites!!!
I havent tried banking it hard left or right to see if the noise changes, i will do that when i gobring it to my uncles house where im going to work on it in a little bit. The truck is a 4X4, it has manual locking hubs which havent been locked in months, when i first heard the noise this morning, i crawled under it and everything seemed tight except for when i grabbed the front driveshaft it moved a little and the front right ujoint at the front right wheel wiggled, seems like that ujoint is broke. I know sound can travel but it sounds like the noise is coming from the front left. It was dark and i.didnt have a flashlight but it also looked like the axle seals were falling apart on both sides...
