Front Rotor on 97' Explorer

Front Rotor on 97' Explorer
I have a 97' Explorer, I have determined that the front rotor is warped, but I have had a hell of a time trying to disassemble the rotor. The nut used on it seemed to be odd sized, it is something between 9/16 and 5/8, and between 14mm and 15mm, so nothing in my set fits it good, and it was so tight, so I was afraid of rounding the nut and gave up.
Anyone have the similar experiences? Or was I just not doing it right?
