I have an 02 explorer xlt with tan interior. The tops of the door panels are kinda worn dried and faded. Does anyone know of a good quality paint/ dye I can get to repaint these and what the actual color is?
the interior color would be denoted on your door sticker. if you want an exact match take a picture of that door tag into a body shop and they can make some interior paint for you. i did this years ago and they even had a nifty spray can type thing that you could use to apply the paint. sometimes they can put it in a regular spray can for you too.
other than that, if they have a color that is close enough, or a contrasting color that you could use to make a custom pattern, the duplicolor brand vinyl is very good stuff. almost idiot proof. you can put it on just about as heavy as you want and it doesn't want to run very easily. good stuff.
here's some blue door panels i sprayed black with the duplicolor dye:
The SEM brand is a professional brand that makes interior paint in OEM colors and you might be able to find available at a local auto body paint store or online. You'll still need the paint color code from the door sticker as mentioned by Meborder above.
