We still driven it. Has a lot of noise coming from the rear end. When I bought the truck I checked the rear end oil and it was empty and I fixed the problem what cause no oil. But between the noise a vibration it needs to get fix and tired of the noise. Just don't know how much long its going to last.
Also ck the drive shaft u joints condition (they can cause vibration too), ck the pinion for play (there is a bearing in there, and a wheel bearing going bad can cause noise too.
Yes a no oil situation in the rear caused by a bad seal can reak havoc on a ring and pinion.
Use caution if still driving it, when and if it decides to suddenly quite on you, it might just lock up, and that is no fun at 55 MPH....
And absolutely NO need to apologize, wish I had a better answer for you in the beginning.
Thanks for the help 77&79. I have had my truck almost 2 years. So yea I need to do something with it. I bet it wont be any fun if it locks up. It wasn't any fun when the oil pump locked up at 55
I have rebuilt the rear brake and changed all u joints. Yes I have when I first got the truck. There was a small amount. Im thinking it needs all new bears at the lease. But that's been 1 1/2 years ago so hard tell what it looks like know
