Fan Clutch Electrical Module
2008 Ford Explorer 4.0 EB 90K
I keep hearing an intermittent roar from the engine compartment. On older Fords I've owned the Fan Clutch failed and caused this particular roar.
I have 2 questions. 1 Does anybody know if this is a somewhat common problem or is this years fan clutch issues more often related to the PCM connection? 2 Can the mechanical portion of the fan clutch be replaced and can I still use the original electrical module that appears to be attached to the fan clutch on the engine side of fan clutch or do I have to replace the whole $200 fan clutch With the electrical connector?
Anybody familiar with this situation?
