Here's my history, after 35,000 miles, I took off my factory Rancho FX4 shocks (built by Ford, stamped Motorcraft) and installed Rancho 9000XL's. After roughly 30,000 miles, I had all 4 Rancho's warrantied out for 4 more Rancho 9000XL's. 20,000 miles later, I sent back the Rancho's and put on Bilstein 5100's. Now, I'm at 98,800 miles and I'm pretty sure my Bilstein's are shot. Are reservoir shocks any better? Thanks in advance.
My Bilsten 5100's are only about 22,000 lies and 3 years old but seem to be doing great.
I just don't know anymore... Lol. Every time I've taken the shocks off, there is virtually no rebound in them any more. I haven't taken the Bilstein's off yet but I don't know what else could be causing this rough *** ride all of a sudden. Smooth road is a breeze. Ran 95 today on the beltway so it's not the tires.
For another ~$1,000, I'll just warranty out the shocks every 20,000 miles and spend 45 minutes swapping them out. After doing it 3-4 times on my truck and once on my buddy's, I've got it down to a science.
the woodlands? its paved malls all around there! i was there earlier this year, how are you blowing shocks? must be the mall speed bumps. slow down when you go over them.

Lol. I'm a contractor and drive mostly in the northern Harris & Southern Montgomery counties. Even Woodlands roads are pretty rough. The mall is good but I visit there twice a year. Christmas and the misses' birthday.

The Bilstein 5100s seem to work well, I have ~50k on a set. I do think the 6.4 is *HEAVY* and beats the crap out of whatever you put up there. I scaled at 5,060# on the front axle empty out of 8,750#.
