NumberDummy, I'm sorry, I stated that wrong. What I meant is I have an AOD and I was thinking about putting it in this truck, right now it has what I believe is a C-6. The truck is a 302 truck but the motor is bad, I have a later model truck roller 302 and this AOD and I was thinking about putting them in this truck.
And Ranger, I agree that an AOD with the 275 is way over doing it, unless I add wings.
I'm a little torn between keeping and flipping this truck. The roller motor is going in regardless with a 4bl carb and intake, just don't know beyond that.
Not so much overkill, there's just no benefit whatsoever. Final gearing would work out to about 1.5 with the OD. RPM would be so low, you wouldn't be making any power, and that would kill mileage. Any engine is a little different, especially depending on how it's built, but all STOCK truck 302's I've ever driven, seem to have a sweet spot between 1,700 and 2,100 RPM. That's where mine make the best mileage and it's right in the power band.
