It's the same on the drivers side. I installed both sides the same way, and the feeling is coming from both sides. Is it possible that the axles are wobbling inside the front end, since the seals aren't seated all the way? I'm thinking that may be it, and its beating the hell out of my hubs. Thanks!

Is there any chance you could post a video of how much movement we are talking about?

Pictures speak a thousand words

Yeah... I've been meaning to renew my membership on here. I guess this would be a good excuse to do so, I can post pics and vids. I will do this tonight and report back.

I don't think this is correct. I just did my ball joints last weekend and also changed the driverside hub. I installed the axle shaft seal (the big seal that seats in the knuckle) and the dust shield onto the axle shaft its self before I installed it back into the axle tube. There was no way to install the dust shield into the axle tube its just springy and rides against the axle tube unless I bought the wrong one the P/N# was 710413. And as far as I can tell the only way to keep the axle from wobbling in the hub is the needle bearing and the axle shaft seal. Someone had installed the passenger side axle shaft incorrectly and left out the big thrust washer and one of the smaller washers out which in turn may have been why the axle seal was destroyed. Now I have too take everything back apart and install them

The large dust/vacuum seal and the small Motorcraft dust seal all get installed onto the axle first. The end of the small dust seal gets gently installed onto the shaft base. A small rubber hammer will do the trick. The large dust/vacuum seal has to be driven onto the axle and then into the hub squarely. There is a special tool to drive the large seal onto the shaft and then into the hub. You can make your own from a pipe and pipe plate. The needle bearing and hub is what supports the outer shaft.

I have the special tool, but the installation was questionable.. I had to beat the hell out of the "large seal" to get it on the stub. This week has been crazy in the pool industry, and I just haven't had time to get back to it. I'm thinking I may need to revisit those seals here in the near future. But that is just added to the list of things I have piled up in the shop or am about to order. Injectors, turbo, plenums, FRX, glow plugs, hydra, tires, PS pump, add the drivers side stabilizer, Redhead steering box, new fan, fan clutch, oil cooler orings, and a few other odds and ends.

Was really hoping to get this resolved before winter. Not looking that way

Dipping back into this today. Figured my pull-to-the-right and ABS light are related, so I started by taking the RF off then the caliper. It just fell off when i unbolted it. In the past, I had to work the caliper off a little bit. The hub without the rotor on it rotates, but seems a little stiff. Should I pull the hub next, or investigate deeper into the caliper? They were brand new (not remans) just at a year ago.

The hub turn freely for sure i.e. with little resistance, but not like a bicycle wheel either. So I would pull the hub for sure to investigate.

Pulled the hub and the whole snap ring and washers fell out. I used the old snap ring, is that a problem? Looks like the knuckle seal is damaged. I'll take some pics and post them up in a minute.

Is there supposed to be a small gap where the large knuckle is?

Isn't that bottom part supposed to be in the middle of the sleeve above it?
(I really hope that makes sense)

Hey guys! Sorry for all the comments here! Does it look like my dust seal (small one) is on backwards? Leaving for Austin later tonight and need this back together. Shouldn't take me but 20 mins or so to do that. Just need to know if I need to go get a new seal. Thanks!

Are these lines on the axle signs of rotational contact? That IS one of the things I am hearing, and feeling. Could this be due to the dust seal being on backwards?

Shouldn't this at least be able to snug up into the housing? I think this thing has been beating around in there since the rebuild. Any thoughts?
