electrical problems
I have a 95 E-250 V6
these issues have not worked from previous owner
ANY, help, leads, direction, and or advice will do me great.
1) replaced fuel pump /w sender,,, gauge not registering?
2) speedometer not moving,,, no rpm's registering?
3) gear shift indicator / needle is not showing at all?
4) No reverse lights,,, all other lights work fine?
THANKS TOO ALL,,, keep it roll-in
3) gear shift needle not showing -
There is a nylon "string" that attaches to the needle, runs under the steering column, to the shift tube on the column, and has an adjustable wheel to fine tune the location of the needle.
To access this string, you need to remove the column trim pieces, upper and lower, you need to pull the key switch out to get the upper trim off. If the string is not broke, or the shift tube arm is not broke, you can just re-attach the string, and do the fine adjustment to the needle.
1, 2 & 4 sounds like you might have a problem with the wire harness that runs inside the frame rail to the rear? Why I say that, you have 3 like problems going to the rear of the van.
1 - When pump was replaced, did the float get jammed up in one of the tank baffles? Was the wires, including the ground wire connected correctly? Is the connector on top of the tank clean and tight? If so, see above.
2 - If not a problem with the rear wire harness, there is a speed sensor on the top of the differential, this controls the speedo, RABS, and shifting points on the transmission. All feed back to the PCM. Replace the sensor first to see it this solves problem #2.
4 - Again, wire harness? If not, the NSS on the transmission is the problem, or the back up light wire in the harness, couple of vans, I was able to tap into the reverse light wire, off the NSS, before the connector and run a new wire to the rear, with out replacing the NSS. Off hand, I could not tell you the color wire you need to tap, but I can check for you. Also check the condition of that connector.
I've also had problems with the rear tail lights/brake lights on this era van, and ran a new wire from under the dash, back to the rear, along side the OE harness, and tapped the left/rear lights in as needed. tracing down a bad wire in that harness is tough, plus with the 3-5 connectors you encounter from under the dash to the rear.
3) checked under dash & steering column for the nylon string & found none at all, is this something that I can replace??????
1&2) redropped tank and checked connector and fuses,,, now working,,, thanks much
4) trying to find wiring dia. w/ color code for the reverse lights,,,, any point of direction for the wiring dia.??????
as always thanks ford family & keep it roll-in
Just been a very busy week/weekend of work around here in the past.
3) - The nylon string is inside the steering column trim pieces, on the underside, you looked under the dash, but it's not there.
Did you take off the column trim?
Glad other items worked out for you
