i have a 1985 bronco wit the 5L 302 efi....i just had a question about the air intake. i dont really know wut the things are called so ill just try to explain really good. anyway... the black plastic hose the feeds the air into the filter...the thing that is connected to the grill. there is i square shield, the sorta blocks the air that enters that tube, i guess to keep things from going in...would anything happen if i removed that..to let air flow in faster?? would i damage anything by letting the air flow through like that? n if i can would i notice any increase in power?
Bugs & rain would flow in, but you won't get any more air in. It's called the "fresh-air duct", and it's designed to flow more air than a stock 5.0L can ever use. For real power increases, read Project MPG.
+im lookin at getting the flowmaster exhaust 40 series...if i get just a muffler would that make a serious difference in sound and performance?? i have a turbo exhaust now from midas, with a 3 inch pipe. it sounds nice but i want something loud.
also i could be wrong but it looks like my truck has 2 catalitic converters... i might be wrong but i got 2 things that look exactly the same on my exhaust, n there in a row about a foot away from each other. if there really is 2 can i remove 1?? n get more power or something???
Yes, you probably have 2 cats, and no, removing a cat won't increase power. If it's damaged, it should be replaced - NOT deleted. Read the article I linked above and this.
