Rear window glass seal

I'm in the middle of sealing my rear window up on my 98. The other day I tried the 3m urthene stuff that is in one of the "how to" and it was sealed except for one corner it would piddle up in . So my ******* tried to tighten one of the bolts and snapped it off, so I'll be getting a new window from the junkyard and using butyl tape this time. Anyone done it and know what size tape to use and did you over lap the tape or have them meet at both ends?

I got the 3M Window Weld from Advance Auto.
3/8" x 15', you end up with it overlapping in the lower bottom pass side, you can see the channel it fits into and it is designed this way.

I have heard many having issues with the stuff in a tube, the butyl tape is the way to go.

When I did mine I started in the bottom center and ended there. Had some left over.

They sell "window kits" at most auto stores. I got mine at Auto Zone... 15 ft roll as mentioned.

Yeah, I have heard the tube stuff is a major pain to get off. Luckily you only have to get it off the truck, not the old window.
