Battery

Replaced batterys last year. On way home battery icon came in dash stays on. Any ideas, wanted to check here first before going any where 2010 F250 6.4 diesel

check your charging system. Sounds like the alternator. Load test the alternator.

when i pushed setup it said check charging system. how do i test the alternator?

You will have to go to someplace like Autozone and they can put a meter on it to see if it is charging.


It is free.

Have them check the batteries too. Had new batteries fail on me over the past year. One at 6 mos and the other 4 mos after that. So 10 months total.

On many of the ford charging systems I have checked I have found a 15 amp fuse in the main fuse block under the hood. It is marked "CHG SYS". If the fuse is still original it will be a blue 15 amp. Just check to see if it is hot on both sides of the fuse while in operation. If the fuse is good check all the wiring to the alternator. Just remember AUTOZONE can test your alternator off the vehicle if needed.
