I have an 89 F-250 460 4x4 with dual tank. It was running fine but prior to going huntin last weekend I decided that I wanted to change the pump in the front tank so that I could use both tanks (i had been running on the rear tank which I had also replaced recently). So i dropped the tank cleaned it and replaced the pump. Put it all back together and now the truck won't start I can't get either in tank pump to kick on. My inline high pressure pump runs fine but my lines are dry. I have tried changing my relay, my tank switch, and checked the roll over switch and still nothing am I missing anything I need it to run.
that's my assumption too. Unfortunately it's sitting in my driveway not my nice 30x30 shop. stinking heavy pig guess i'll have to go old school and get the plywood out.
Alright here's some new info on the previously posted problem. I have been doing some probing with my test light. I have power leaving my switch to both tanks. I have power at the pumps but it's momentary when you first turn on the key it lights for 3-5 secs then shuts off. my grounds are good I, the wierd thing is when the fuel pump power isn't powered it turns to a ground. verified with a test light. any thoughts?
well heres an update I finally got to the bottom of the issue, I pulled the front tank and pump last night and put some test leads on the pump while in the sender and nothing. pulled the pump from the sender did the same thing and it worked fine, so I tested my sender for broken wires then put it back together tested it again worked reinstalled in my truck. don't know what was wrong there. Then I turned my attention to the rear tank did the same thing and determined my less than 2 month old pump had crapped out a quick trip to vatozone (30 miles away) and I had a new pump in installed and it's working fine. Idk what I did to mess up the pumps but it's fixed now.
