My Dad uses Chevron. He has a setup that, I'm not exactly sure how it works now, but he can hook up hoses to the injectors themselves and pressurize the system somehow and inject the cleaner in a matter of a few minutes with the engine running.

Not sure if this is the forum for such talk, but... The Chevron Techron you used is one of only two products I know of (i.e. proven) that actually do clean out the carbon from the insides of the combustion chambers. The other is BG's 44K (about $20 a can, more powerful cleaner).

Use the Techron once per 3000-5000 miles if you can. Don't complain - the stuff is still revolutionary, and Techron cost $16 when it first hit the market.

Best,

not trying to be a smarty britches, but if this wasnt the proper place to ask this question, where was the proper place, at first i thought this was not the right place either but when i looked at the different forums this was the only one that applied, the only other forum i look at on here is the FE forum and i wasnt asking the question for an FE engine, and i figure just about everyone looks at this forum and then spreads themselves out amongst the others. alos i would like more oppinions on the original question. i've seen many other fuel additives, like outlaw, stp and many others,

Way down near the bottom of the Forum's list is the "Fuel Injection, Carburetion and Fuel System" forum. It's hard sometimes to find the right forum because there are so many, but that is part of what makes this such a great site.

This topic fits here because it is a general question about an addition.
It would be moved yesterday if it was a problem.
I used to use Forte' products but can no longer find them.
Now I use Marvels Mystery Gas treatment every 10 tankfuls.

I'll keep your reply in mind Mil1ion as sometimes I've had tech questions that are general and don't fit any specific forum.

As for fuel additives, I have used a variety of products from Valvoline fuel system treatment, to Rislone Fuel Injector Cleaner, including Casite and Gummout products (Oh yeah, used STP stuff too). I just wonder if it does much good. I think it is an over time thing that you won't notice in the short haul. Wonder if there is a Motorcraft fuel system cleaner product?

Just too bad they don't have additives in the gasoline in the first place to displace water and keep the system clean. My mechanic once told me to use premium once a month as it has cleaners.

When I had my '86 with fuel injection, I used to use STP fuel injector cleaner about every 6 months. After a tankfull with it, you could tell the difference immediately.
IN my snowmobiles, chainsaw, and outboards, I like to use Eagle one, or Kleen-flo brand of fuel stabilizer a couple of times a year.
A snowmobile mechanic who worked on one of my sleds said he could tell I was using it because of how clean the engine was inside.

Good idea Mil1ion. I will do that next time I am unsure. Thanks.

BG 44 K here.
It's the only stuff I've ever used that made a big difference.
Expensive and hard to find but worth it.

Hmmm the only vehicle that I drive is fuel injected is our Jeep, and it runs through injectors so fast we don't need to clean them. I am curious though if the carbon buildup is causing the failures.
