There's lots of expirence here, and a lot of people looking for help. I feel like I'm being lazy but I've tried searching for answers before but there's been so much past information about injectors it's mind boggling. I have a couple of questions.
1. I have a regulated fuel return and the high pressure cross over. Do I need to put in the #8 LL injector or can I put all AD's in? Will it make any difference to bother?
2. New or rebuilt. I don't have a few spare k around, I would like to send my sticks somewhere to be rebuilt. Who would be the best, both economically and professionally.
I've read the ruckus about new vs. reman but I can't help but think there's a lot of people running remans out there with no problems.
With the regulated return you can run all AD's......people like Rosewood for rebuilds. I went with new 160/30's from PIS though. PIS does rebuilding as well.
Thanks for the reply, Dan. I've checked out both web sites and was wondering why you decided to go with PIS. It looked like Rosewood was a little less $$ but not by much.
I'm running Rosewood rebuilds. No issues here.
With single shots there is no LL. The RR should cure the need for a LL injector if your sticking with split shots from what I've read.
Yes, I think I'll stay with the splits. I have a TS chip in it now but I like the idea of being able to go back to the stock tune if I have issues with the chip or need a PCM/re-flash.
I put remans from Gillette Diesel in a work truck and they are doing great, all AD's with the LL. Gillette has also rebuilt several turbos for us without any problems.
Many people (including myself) pick an injector vender/rebuilder based on the ability to have tuning included in the price of buying the sticks. That's not to say the tuning is free, but there can be a big discount.
By going with stock injectors, you bypass the tuning adventure, and it frees you up to use a stick vendor not tied to any one particular tuner.
With the RR, FRx, and/or Hutch/harpoon mod - I see no reason to get all special with #8.
Reman vs. new - you do have to live within your means. I never said they were all bad out of the box, but this issue may visit itself upon you yet again - but much earlier than if new.
