If you can replicate the problem on demand, watch the dash when you do it to see if the traction control icon flashes. I had this happen routinely on a 2010 F-150 and for a while, I swore it was a tire rubbing. As it turned out, the truck thought I was in a roll and was applying the brakes to one front wheel to try to stop the roll. For me, it was usually when turning sharp into my parking lot at work.

A test drive might be a good next step, JPMF250. Also, I'd like to escalate this to your regional customer service manager so they can help. To make that happen, send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll do the rest.

Hi JPMF250,

All you have to do is click on the "FordService" at the top left of this post and select the option to send a private message from the drop-down menu. If you'd prefer, you can contact our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673; they can offer the same assistance that I can.

I believe you need around 10 posts and active for 10 days I think before Private Messaging is available to you.

So no one has been able to figure out what the rubbing noise is? I see several threads on this issue but resolution. Anybody? Anybody? I spent close to 70k on this truck and the rubbing noise is killing me!

I agree. Have this issue with my 2014 truck. Only way I can make the noise go away is by turning off the traction control every time I get in the truck. Ford so far has not been any help.

I offered a suggestion a few posts up. My bet is still the traction control kicking in due to a yaw sensor that is too sensitive. By looking to see if the traction control icon is flashing on the dash when the rubbing is happening, you could say for sure one way or the other that it is or is not traction control (roll stability - more specifically).

I did check the traction control light when the rubbing noise occurred and didn't see anything. Any others ideas? I'm all ears.

Hi drcadams,

I'll be happy to arrange for a follow-up call from your CSM. I checked out your case notes and see that he had a hard time getting in touch with you; send me a PM with a verification of your best daytime phone number and your current mileage. I'll get this into his hands.

That's all I have. I feel your pain as it drove me nuts looking around on my truck trying to find it. I looked everywhere under the front end looking for rub marks on the tires, wheel well liners, control arms, etc and never found anything. I just finally lucked out and saw the traction control icon flashing early one morning in the parking lot and figured it out. From then on, I just disabled traction control and never had an issue after that. Good luck!

I've had the same noise for 3 years. My traction control light did not come on either, but, after reading this thread I decided to turn off the traction control by holding the button for 10 seconds. I drove through the dip into my neighborhood that makes the most noise and NO MORE NOISE!!! If I were you I would give it a try before taking it to the dealer. Good luck.

Holy moly. I think you may be onto something. I turned off the traction control and I think it may be gone

Glad it worked out for you. I'm still surprised it doesn't blink the light as it did on my F-150, but I guess these are programmed differently. I just got into the habit of turning it off every day, so I never checked to see if the dealer could make the yaw sensor less sensitive.
