Cylinder Wash

Yesterday I went through some water and the motor took a healthy sip. It bogged down then when I gave it more power to climb out it studdered and died. A few minutes later it started and was able to walk out in 4lo. The filter was saturated and steam coming from the intake tube.

The truck is back to normal now. I let it idle for 20 minutes and the filter dried out. No apparent residual deficits. I doubt any made it to the engine with the intercooler in the way.

Just looking for any insight anything I may contain want to do now. New filter is already in the mail.

Not sure about diesels but in my gas off roading days we would pull the plugs and spin it over.

Hopefully your good to go. I know you checked all the fluids for contamination right??

I'd say if it's running fine now then after your new filter you'd be good to go.

This makes me wonder, is there such thing as an intercooler drain, like on a radiator.

I'll be doing the rear diff for sure, it was submerged and has a bad (missing) vent tube.....

The front was also submerged, so maybe I should do that one as well.

Oh yeah be sure and atleast do the finger dip check for Milky gear oil.
Replace vent hose after fluid change. Use toothpick or something and unplug at the diff while the cover is off.

Vent may be clogged. Ben dare an dun dat.

Used to LOVE mud holes a d the challenge. Then it got old with constant fluid and brake change. Switched to Rock crawling. Then drive shafts got changed alot. LOL

I don't submerge my axles often. This is probably the first time I've been that deep haha

Trey that's hard to really tell what it looks like. If you think it is cloudy or milky looking at all, CHANGE it.

If your axle was warm it may appear over filled. If it was cool that may be some extra fluid in there.

As much as you use the truck I would make sure its good to go ya know!

Looking again that may be just fine, only you can judge. If it has sat all day you could spin around the block then check fluid condition again. Mix it up in there.

I looks kinda milky. I've already got the oil.

Anyone have any tips on cleaning internals when I crack the diff? Solvents etc...

I don't think I'd use that stuff on the bearing. WD40 gets rid of water. Mitt spray that in there then when you refill it, it should be good to go.
