Hello all, first diesel

Thought I would come in here and make myself known. This is my first diesel, but I'm not unfamiliar to them. I was able to pick up a 96 250 4x4 today. I'll be browsing around here to learn as much as I can about it. Here she is.

My first suggestion would be get rid of the K&N filter and go with a 6637 from Riffraff. You can use the K&N tube and put the 6637 on it. Don't have to buy the whole kit that way.

Thank you, I'll be looking into that one.

I definitely expect to spend money haha. My first step is to go through everything and see what needs to be fixed/replaced just due to old age and general wear and tear.

Nice looking truck man! And welcome to the OBS diesel side of the forum.

A few things you need to know are that Riffraff Diesel is your friend for parts, K&N filters ruin turbos, Edge Scanners are a bad idea, and Glow plugs and CPS for these trucks should be OEM only. Aside from that you'll pick up the rest pretty quick, but those are the basics right off the bat.

Here is a link to the filter.....6637 Replacement Filter - Riffraff Diesel Performance

The ones with the screen inside are the only ones you want to buy. They are Baldwin filters and Clay at Riffraff has the best price you'll find on them.

Nice truck.

FYI there is nothing wrong with that style K&N
It's the drop in for the factory air box that dust the turbo because it doesn't seal correctly

Hi welcome nice lookin truck I see it's a auto I have a identical truck but it's green but I just did a zf5 swap because the auto went out just a thought I'd change the tranny filter and oil and drain the torque converter and blow the lines out and add a 6.0 tranny cooler I think if I had done it mine would still be okay

Nice truck man! Welcome to FTE! This a great place with some good dudes. Truck looks unmolested for the most part! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
