Morning all, I'm new to the powerstroke end of Ford, I laid up my 65 F-100 for restoration and needed an interim truck so I picked up a 2004 F-450 4x4 automatic last night.
Only got about a 35 minute ride at speeds from 0- 50., and about 5 minutes at 60.
It behaved most of the time, however occasionally at aroun 35-40 under slight load it felt like it was skipping, either that or possibly the tranny was shimmying.
Sounds like it's your Vehicle Speed Sensor located on top of the rear diff.
I'd also check and make sure the battery connectors are tight and clean. If they're not and/or the batteries are weak, these trucks sometimes do all kinds of crazy things.
I am having the same thing. It's around when the turbo psi is between 8 and 15. It sorda just skips for a split second Afew times. Last time it did this it was an underboost code. I replaced the turbo and it's back again.
Found a new friend that likes to work on these things, he scanned it for me, it has low voltage at the FICM and one bad injector @ #1 cyl. I heard a rumor this may be covered under warrantee for 100K anyone know if this is true?

5 years or 100K miles. All the 6.0's are out of factory warranty unless you purchased an ESP
IPR valve 5C3Z-9C968-CA fixed mine with same problem. My stock 2005 6L jerks and has a urk-urk-urk sound from engine area 60-65 mph towing or not about 10% boost, light load uphill 5th gear No codes, no check eng light. Can accelerate or let off and will go away. A Ford turbo, vgt valve nor several injectors did not fix. But new FORD IPR valve did fix problem.

Did you do a contribution test before you did the injectors?
Injector replacements done at a Ford dealer under my Ford Premium Extended Warranty. They did not really believe my concern so just threw parts at it and "Trumped up reasons" to do with warranty. They noted on their work order that "Cylinders 31, #2, #3 dropping from 30% to 40% RPM. I had no starting or rough running cold concerns. Anyway the injectors replacement did not fix my problem and truck ran exactly same as before injector replacement. Previously under warranty Ford threw a remanufactured turbo, new VGT valve, #7 injector, EGR valve, and new frame fuel pump at it. All only cost me $100 deductible. None of the parts they put on changed how truck ran nor did they fix problem. Ford just kinda gave up on my problem and they gave up. I (out of my pocket started changing sensors, one by one, including MAT, MAP, MAP, ICP, EBP. none of these fixed problem. Them I bought a new IPR valve $288 from Ford and special OTC socket $64, put IPR valve in and fixed my problem! Note; old IPR valve had no debris in screen. Note; No codes or check engine light ever occurred.
Solved all my 6.0 problems, after it breaking down 4 times in as many weeks and finally leaving me dead on the road to be towed for the first time in my 61 year life, I gave it back to the shop I bought it from got my 14K back and spent 3000.00 on a 43,000 mile 1983 460 E-350 with an aluminum covered utility body that was an ambulance in it's previous life. Ive had it for a few weeks now and it runs and drives like new and hasn't broken down yet. The 11,000 I saved in the trade I can spend of gas since it gets 9mpg.
