I don't think any of those European tags would be considered acceptable by any US authorities. Besides, the frames did not have tags, the frames were stamped.

My 53 is stamped on top of the front crossmember on the passenger side. Just below and behind the radiator.
Sounds the same as mine. It's located in the red box below.
If you don't care if the ID plate is embossed or engraved, any trophy shop can reproduce it. You just need a good, clean picture for them to work from.
You will probably have to clean the frame to find it, but be careful. The numbers may not be stamped very deep and if you use a power sander you could sand them away. Do not use a grinder to clean it.
Miy 55 panel # is on top of frame just in front of the front cab mount passenger side, so was my 56. You can see it (if it is clean) with a mirror inside the wheel well. If not you have to remove the inner fender panel.
I'd still contact BRETT STOUTENBERG. Maybe he can make you a plate from your title. You probably ground and welded the Frame VIN off while boxing it. Otherwise you'll have to have it inspected and will probably end up with a state assigned VIN.

I think they may be the only way to get it re-vin
I did have the PA. tile when I purchased it back in 1997 but in N.Y.S. you must surrender the title and they give you a transferable registration if the veh: is older then 1973
I have the original vin number on the registration but no were to verifier it on the the truck.
Could be a sticky issue. Not sure if NY will take the plate in the glovebox as the VIN or not but you need to get it fixed or you'll never be able to sell it.
I do have another option have the truck transported to my second home in calabash n.c.
I did speak with a DVV inspector last year before I left he stated as long as the truck is registered and insured they will have me post a bond and they will re-vin it or line in N.C. issue me a new title. I was also told to have a early registration if I can to show them I do own the truck back when I finished. I did some searching and found a 1999 reg and now I just did re-reg and have a valid registration good to 2015 .
any one have any dealing with DMV inspectors in N. C.
