APinnews.Dallas. 7/11/2003

China's first move, immediately after President Bush signed the executive order admitting China as permanent trade partner today, was to make an offer to acquire Walmart at an undisclosed price. A spokesman for the SEC, who spoke on conditions of anomynity, said, "this is a viable opportunity for Corportate International to consolidate operations."

Bob Bixby, a public relations spokesperson for Walmart said, "They're making an offer that we can't refuse. This is a very advantageous move for the American public as well, since 87% of our products are already from China the public will enjoy greater savings with the elimination of middleman markups. It will be the first direct to the public world market, and we are very excited.

There was some speculation that the name Walmart that has enjoyed so much success and loyalty from the American public will be renamed, Chimart.

China going to a free trade Capitalistic system would get a few rolls from quite a few others too, including me.

China has been reported to arrests people (especially young healthy males) give them 20 years in prison work farms on trumped up charges and have them build diesel engines that ship to our shores $1700.00 cheaper than Cummings can compete with.

If China ran a fair and honest Flea Market it would be a step in the right direction, from the reports I've seen. Are you getting a clearer picture now?

PS Anyone that believed that Gullible is being deleted from the dictionary, sure is.

That's right.

I will make a prediction. In the next 5 years China will start building cars. Have some company here act as its agent, kind of like Walmart, and be hugely successful.

Imagine, a new car in Walmart for $2,999. Compact trucks for $3,999. 4-cylinder and 6. Not as nice as Hondas of this world but not costing as much as Hondas either, nor Ford / GM.

That will totally destroy all competition. American, European and Japanese, all of it. Enjoy what you have because in 15-20 years there won't be any Ford trucks in the sense that they won't be popular anymore- not affordable ones, not in comparison to Walmart ones. Who in their right mind would buy a $35,000 truck when you get one for a small fraction of the cost, even if it is an econobox-truck.

Next: Computers. They will build computers. Pentium VIII for $199. Good buy Intel.

China is where Japan was in the 60's/70's.

If their computers are anything like their fireworks, the chances of it going off are 50/50.

maybe it will, maybe it won't.

I don't think so !...Walmart and China are very much alike!
Wally's successes are based on bullying suppliers , paying workers as little as possible and rolling over anyone who got in thier way, while wrapping everything in the red white and blue and pasting a phoney smile on it!

Replace the red white and blue with communist red, and the morning singing of the company song with the Chinese National anthem, and ....well you get the picture..

I have about $2,999.oo invested in a twenty year old American truck.

Every dime I spend on it just makes it better and more reliable than ever.

While some of the parts came from China (undoubtably) the oil pan came from Canada, the engine was a crate motor rebuilt in the USA, the chrome goodies came from Mr Gasket and Edelbrock, and all of the above contributed to the paychecks of the ordinary guys and gals like you and me that were standing behind the parts counter.

Somehow I can't imagine the same experience being in the future of anyone who owns a fine product of the Tsing Tao Motor Company - or whatever they end up calling it...

And old trucks are not just a way to save money, it's a HEART kind of a thing. You either feel it or you don't, and if I have to explain it you just would not understand anyway!

Three grand, huh?

I wouldn't give three hoots for a truck like that.

No, of course not. But that's what they said in the 70's about Toyota, also. They were dead wrong because you see the damn things everywhere.

China is a sleeping giant. They will dominate the world's economy once their quality control goes up.

I was stunned when someone told me that China is more capitalistic than US. Yet it is true. They have no expensive environmental laws, no affirmative action for hiring, no government mandates for people with disabilities, etc. Which explains why their stuff costs orders 2 orders of magnitude less. In conjuction with slave work.

If our presidents were serious about freedom, they would have banned trade with China and all other commie countries. Would you buy stuff from ***** made with labor from concentration camps?

Actually what would probably happen is an established American company would probably take an existing product and restyle it to fit north american tastes, then book factory time in china to produce X- million units, dump them on the North american market with an american name. Dealers selling them would probably make more $ per unit selling $2999 cars than Ford and Gm dealers are now selling $40 k units.

That is exactly what has happened with much of the General Merchandise and furnature on the market today.
