Website problems, or my computer?

The last few days, when I click on a post link through email, the new post doesn't show... I have to immediately hit the refresh button to see the new one! Anyone else experience this?

Website problems, or my computer?

Does it take a long time to download then fail?

It could be your server.

They often do maintenance at night.

Or are you talking about this site?

Website problems, or my computer?

Its either:

a) your web browser settings are incorrect and it isn't properly refreshing pages automatically

b) your Internet provider has a uses a proxy cache and it isn't properly recognizing that the page should not be cached.

FYI, next time, PLEASE use the User Feedback section.

I think he was talking in General computer internet browsing terms Ken.

Is that right Mark ? or are you just talking about the FTE site ?

ie:
Like when someone sends him an e-mail and a URL is attached to it then trys to opens it.

I have that problem myself sometimes.

General, or FTE, the cause is the same --- either his browser or his ISP is caching the old page.

Website problems, or my computer?

Doesn't matter, if you have to hit reload then your browser or isp's proxy cache is ignoring the no-cache request and its not us. A server has no control over whether your browser reloads a page.

In your browser, assuming you're using Internet Explorer go to any post in the boards, click "View" and then "Source". You'll see the following in the cache:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="pragma" content="no cache">

That's telling your browser not to cache it. Ask Microsoft or your Internet provider for browser support, or restore whatever page settings you may have changed in your browser.

As I noted, this belongs in User Feedback, not here. Closed.
