I looked all around my fan and I have a lot of clearance. Right now I do not see a problem! Where is these goys trimming the shroud?

I read in the original thread that on the early shroud/rad there is no flat spot.
They also say if you have the flat spot, "Once you trim out that flat spot there is no place where the fan is even remotely close enough to hit anything".
Ya, I looked at mine today and have quite a bit of room everywhere also. I see no flat spot as mentioned either, and no indication of the fan rubbing or hitting anywhere. I'd say I'm good to go too.

I'd like to know what in the world is going on for the guys having issues. I've seen it 4-5 times now.
ETA it appears that it is related to distance between the fan and shroud. Fan catches shroud and gets thrown into the radiator.
yup i had the same problem truck torqued the fan into my radiator. that weekend was a disaster i am working on buliding a spacer to be able to run 6.0 fans with out the clearance issue
The way I read it..it's not so much a flat spot as it is a casted part of the plastic that hangs down from the top. It is on the front surface of the shroud in an area you would suspect it to provide some strength to the overall circle of the shroud. The problem is when a fan blade hits this lip it either gets knocked away from the radiator or in some cases it catches and gets knocked into the radiator.
I am very interested in putting on a 6.0 blade as my fan noise is a nuisance in the texas summers.
Does someone have a part number or does any 6.0 fan blade fit?
Leo, my understanding is the 6.0 fans are all the same in their respective trucks, so any 6.0 fan should work. I don't think there are different fan part numbers for the different 6.0-liter equipped trucks.
That's the only flat spot I could find Leo, but I have plenty of clearance from the front of my fan to the flat spot. If that is the spot, I'm wondering if because the motors aren't all exactly in the same spot, ie see some trucks are harder to put in downpipes than others, that some get too close to the front and catch it?
Gotta spread the love around before sending REPS to you, Jose. Thanks for the info. Knowledge is power.
Dont worry, thanks amigo.

Till I understand, yes, that is.

Don't know, just a thought.
Good call, but one questions for all of you that have checked the clearance, it was spinning the fan or just with the engine of?, maybe the "plastic" fan, expands or widen (I hope you understand me) acoording with the RPM? also just a thought.
