Seriously, though, that 4.6 mustang engine would be cool. Lighter than the 460 and assumedly better MPG. Might be a few more things to work out for fuel delivery but nothing that hasn't been done in one form or another.
Then again, it is expensive to build, you are limited on transmissions, mechanical valves, dizzy is hard to get to, and there are only a couple good sources for performance parts.
Im debating this issue right now.
I would love a SBF, AOD, and 3.55 gears. Great performance, double the hp that the stock 292 puts out, and probably double the mileage. Im guestimating that the swap can be done for 3-4k on a budget, 4-5k with a bunch of new parts, and 5-6k with a crate engine.
Cool stuff in this thread already.
Definitely not interested in an limited more expensive build if that's the case (y block). Once I move from the way it sits now then I may as well go to ease in accessibility to parts, reliability, value per dollar, etc.
Here's the guy from the video, looked sweet.
Some reason my mobile browser posts links to top thread.
saw Phoenix something crate motors and tuff dog?
I don't know how the guys on eBay had an 08 motor with less than 2k miles, seems strange. They're near here though.
A little over a year ago I swapped a '92 Mustang 5.0/AOD into my '66 shortbed. I kept the fuel injection and used the Ford Racing harness. Already had 3.54 limited slip rear in the truck. I love it!!
