I just bought a pair of original style tail lights from Midwest Early Ford but I opted for the stainless steel version, not dark side, just slightly toasted. They were $30 each. I really like them.
You could, if you bought the correct type of SignalStat. Some SignalStats used dedicated turn lights, others you cut into the brake light circuit to use the existing dual-filament bulb.
Yes, I used the Signal-Stat turnsignal unit that my grandfather put on who knows when to comply with PA State Inspection laws.

The older versions didn't lend themselves to single signal /light schemes. My signals were also separated from the lights - an upgraded Signal-Stat did the trick.
Hey Travis,
Nice '50 over there! It's pretty straight forward to get those little parking lights in your front grill to be your front turn signals. We had some very dim trailer lights on the back. I wasn't comfortable driving around Austin with 50,000 students & 100,000 Hipsters with dim tail lights. We over corrected for that....
A note about tail lights and license plates....
If the tail light bracket is mounted "stock", a stock mounted rear bumper will block the plate. Here in Arizona, that is legal as long as the vehicle is "restored to as assembled condition".
Check your local laws, but if your state does not allow that than you have to invert the mounting bracket which will raise the height enough to make your plate visible.
