I installed new fuel injectors in my 2003 Expy with 5.4L engine.
Started up and ran great, but then threw codes p2196 and p2198 which are oxygen sensors biased/stuck in Rich condition. Using data logging on my code reader, the O2 sensors were pegged at 1V and never moved off of that. And long term fuel trim remained at 0 throughout the ordeal.
When I put my old injectors back in, i started getting the normal readings for my O2 sensors and normal reading for fuel trim.
Anyone have a guess as to why a brand new set of injectors would cause a rich condition that the PCM couldn't correct?
How old are the o2's The o2's can be fixed rich with the new injectors cause the lean condition for so long damaged them! with your new injectors did you reset fuel adaption? How about force a vacuum leak and see if the o2's respond? I would do a complete fuel relearn, fuel pressure regulator working properly?
Were the injectors an exact replacement? You can get injectors to fit but have a different flow rating. It's always best to get the number off an original injector and order new based on that number rather than by application.
The O2 sensors are only 2-3 years old.
I reset the fuel adaptation the only way I know: disconnect the battery for 15-20 mins.
I tried unplugging a vacuum hose and did see the O2 sensor respond with lower voltage.
Fuel pressure is running 52 psi key on, engine off, and 58 psi engine running.
I haven't tested the fuel pressue regulator yet.
I thought the injectors were exact replacements. But I haven't cross referenced the part numbers yet. I will do that. I had a suspicion that maybe the new ones were rated for a higher flow rate, but haven't been able to find flow specs for injectors to this point.
