GCLL, Even if it didn't make the CEL come on I would tell them it has happened on numerous occasions and you researched the symptoms on some forums and came across the notice of the TSB.

Tofan, my estimated $10k is the complete bill from when the tow truck picked it up until I pick it up from my mechanic. Towing, parts, labor, and aggravation.

I sent a note to Crystal on here since she was wonderful at helping me get my radiator issue resolved with a little assistance from Ford but she said that this is out of her realm. Since I don't have to go to the job site tomorrow I will probably spend some hours on the phone going through the Ford directory.

Ok 10k for EVERYTHING isn't so bad sounding, my bad, just sounded like that was the price for just the short block. Please let us know how you end up man. Again, sorry this happened to you. Have you try calling your insurance to see if they will cover it?

I have not tried contacting my insurance but I've never heard of insurance covering repairs of this nature.

I figured everyone would like to see how she sits right now. And that's the mechanic's KR on the right that he just picked up. Doing a little massaging to the engine.

Judging from the parts he has laid out, the usual oil cooler, EGR delete, and Studs.

I stopped by my dealer this morning. The truck is going in on Friday to have the waste gate sound after shut down fixed (out of warranty) and they said they would look into the valve issue. They said TSB 13-05-09 was superceeded and that it only applies to vehicles having the misfire symptoms at 40-70 mph. Mine always occurred below 30 mph.

Basically he was just building the crap out of it! He gave me the list of stuff but it was basically everything inside the engine was going to be new. Hi flow injectors, cams, pistons, crank, valves, bigger turbo, blah blah blah. You know, all the stuff shop owners can do.

Knowing what I know now I would be saying that it has happened at all speeds. You were talking to the wife and she said oh yeah it happened to me that one time I drove it to Suzy's house. Anything to try and get them to make the change.

Engine light comes on when you're checking mirror and bumping the turn signal, game over.

At 1500 rpm, that's 25 rotations per second! It doesn't take long.

My dealer never took my truck for a ride or tried to re-create the problem. I showed them the TSB, said my truck had this issue. They said, go the the counter on the other side of the shop to pick-up your rental car. Your truck will be done in a few days.

If more owners did this TSB, would they be preventing the catastrophic failure noted in these pictures above, when their warranty is long gone? Is this TSB a little preventative maintenance to a very expensive possible future failure?
