About 10 years ago I think I read something about spraying a deodorizer between the refrigerant line and it's insulation to help with a musty smell coming from the vents. Has anyone done this, and if so, what's recommended to use for a deodorizer? I think I may have read this in a Haynes manual.
If you take the blower out of the housing on the passenger side firewall under the hood you can see the evap. coil. It can be cleaned by spraying coil cleaner on it then rinsing it off with water. One bit of advice to keep this from reoccuring is to turn your A/C off and let your fan blow on high thru the vents for about 1 min prior to turning the truck off. This will help dry the coil off thus preventing mildew and the oder.

I have never found a "deodorizer" that last more than a day or 2 for this problem. If you are going try that just spray the deodorizer in the inlet by the floor with the system on max cold and low fan.

This right here is the best easy option, next option is to discharge system, remove evaporator and thoroughly clean the coils, with out getting any moisture in the system.
