92 F150 inline 6 fuel problems
I just bought this truck. Runs pretty good. FI. 99k. 2 tanks. Valve cover gasket leaks. Great shape.
Problem is fuel like most other of this generation. Connected pressure Guage, I only get 20 psi with the first koeo, 35 with the second or third. The fuel pump also has a hard time keeping up at start up (I got under the truck to listen for the noise. It spins up, but you can here her struggle to keep up). Running I get about 38psi.
Tank switch works well with the front tank, but I get no noisewhen I switch to the rear (Nothing under the truck either) I'm going to use a volt meter this weekend to trace wires.
I'm headed to the junk yard Sunday to maybe get a few parts to see if anything needs to be replaced. I also planned to come to my shop and pull the bed off (thinking it would be easier than dropping both tanks) overhead cranes and such) to pull the fuel pumps out and check if they could be clogged.
Question: does the rear tank have a pump, or just a transfer pump?
Could a bad pump cause the low psi during startup and during the "catch-up" right after start up?
The guy who owned the truck before me removed the air box and put a mesh screen (damn Louisiana cajuns) over the intake. He said the airbox made the truck run bad... smh
Last question; looking at the motor, top left corner is a little cylinder with a hose coming out of it. It has a little blue actuator arm. Wtf is that thing? No diagram online has it labled and I'm going buy the Hanes book today.
Thank anyone and everyone for their time and I look forward to many fun conversations. I've read many posts by you guys. If there are treads that can answer my questions, please post links. I'm kinda new to the forum thing.

Bought the book and the valve cover gasket. Autozone was less than helpful with questions
i put detergent free oil back in, and started it. it started rough, but leveled out after it figured out what was going on... i didnt run it long. it was bad enough to not know how the hell it was moving oil in the first place
