Gonna put new plugs in my rig and I don't know what brand to use. I have a set of autolite dp but I don't feel you should have to adj the gap. they are set for .044 not .053 Most new plugs are set right on. There is a 5.4 that uses this gap. Kinda think they got lazy. I think i'm gonna go to the dealer....What do you guys think??
Also the plugs that are in there are not worn at 80,000 miles do you think they were changed? They are motorcraft..
What motorcraft #
What autolite #
The originals have threads 1/2 up autolites all the way.
I'm sure it doesn't matter since the threads start 1/2 way down in the hole anyway..
Well, if you count the shade tree variety I might qualify...
I have used Autolite plugs in the past and I think they work fine. What's the big deal with setting the gap? I always check and adjust gap as necessary when I put in a new set of plugs - never really bothered me...
I have removed plugs with similar mileage that looked pretty clean. You could still be using the original ones.
Lastly, if you want Motorcraft plugs, I'd bet they're a lot cheaper at the auto parts store than the dealer.
